James Barnes received his law degree from the University of Ottawa, with distinction in 1973 and has been in private practice since his Call to the Bar in 1975.  In 1982 he was one of the founding members of Barnes Sammon and has practiced with the firm since that time.

Mr. Barnes practices primarily in the areas of civil litigation (of a commercial or financial nature) and family law (property and support claims).

Mr. Barnes is an avid sportsman and has been involved as a participant and volunteer in various sporting activities over the years.
