Richard Liss was born in Truro, Nova Scotia. He received his Master in Business Administration from the University of Ottawa in 1986, his Master of Science from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. in 2004, and his Juris Doctor (JD – law degree) from the University of Ottawa in 2015.
After completing his articles with Barnes Sammon LLP, he joined the firm in the summer of 2016. Mr. Liss is an advocate for the elderly and for currently serving or retired members of the military. During his articles, he gained practical experience in various areas of the law, concentrating on wills and powers of attorney.
Prior to entering the field of law, Mr. Liss was a member of the Canadian Forces for over thirty years where he was awarded the Order of Military Merit for outstanding meritorious service. He was a finance officer in the Royal Canadian Navy. He was also an owner-partner of a scuba diving business and a co-manager of a retirement home within the Capital Region.
Mr. Liss is a member of the County of Carleton Law Association.
